A Bartlesville native, Miss Lyke is the daughter of Nora B. Lyke and the late C.C. Lyke. As a child she studied dance with June Runyon, who had been with the Chicago Opera Ballet Company. After graduation from College High School, she attended Tulsa University as a piano major and violin minor, was a member of Delta Delta Delta, a social sorority, and selected for membership in the sophomore Lantern Honor Society where she held the second highest office as secretary-treasurer. In her junior year, she was selected for Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

   Later, she served two terms as president of Dance Masters of America, Oklahoma Chapter and was a member of the Cecchetti Council of America, a graded system in ballet. In 1976, Miss Lyke was honored by the Allied Arts and Humanities Council for her contribution to the furtherment of the Art of Dance. In 1997, Miss Lyke also received the Arts and Music medallion from the Bartlesville Centennial committee.

   During her career Miss Lyke has choreographed for the legitimate theater. These include "Oklahoma" - "Annie Get Your Gun" - "The Music Man" - "The Fantastics" - and the Sooner High production of "Bayou Flute". Also, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" - "Camelot" - "Guys & Dolls" and many more.

   Miss Lyke has served as Artistic Director of of the Bartlesville Civic Ballet, Inc. since 1976, and this September 2008 she celebrates her 57th year as owner and teacher of the Bartlesville Ballet Centre. Miss Lyke has one son in Bartlesville and one granddaughter.

   Miss Lyke is owner and director of Bartlesville Ballet Centre; one of the long-standing premier ballet - dance instruction studios in Bartlesville. The Centre hosts the annual Arvola - Ahonen Workshop.
